SHAH ALAM - Economy Minister Rafizi Ramli will discuss with Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution on a police report to be lodged over an online post for alleged defamation.

The move comes after a social media post made by Pas today claiming that 54,000 Chinese nationals are in the process of being granted citizenship.

"I will speak to the Home Minister on the police report which is clearly a criminal defamation. 'In the process of being granted citizenship' is a lie.

"Pas needs to be held accountable if it continues to lie like this," he said this on X.

Previously, an issue surrounding '54,000 Chinese nationals in the process of becoming DAP voters' had gained widespread attention, quoting a statement attributed to Saifuddin. However, it was later revealed that this information had allegedly been manipulated by irresponsible parties for publicity.

On Aug 18, the National Registration Department (JPN) came forward to address the issue and informed that it was quoted and manipulated from Saifuddin's statement when he spoke at a press conference during his working visit to the department on Jan 9.

On Saturday, Saifuddin had also rejected allegations that his ministry is in the process of granting Malaysian citizenship on a large scale to foreigners, especially from China.
