SHAH ALAM - Deputy Minister of Finance 1 Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan alleges that Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad was one of the Umno leaders at the time who indoctrinated the Malay community to dislike DAP.

However, in 2018, Dr Mahathir worked with DAP to overthrow Umno and establish a government after winning the 14th General Election (GE14).

"Among those indoctrinating Malays to dislike DAP is Tun Mahathir.

"But when Dr Mahathir wants to defeat Barisan Nasional (BN) in 2018 in the 14th General Election (GE14) he was with DAP and that fact can be accepted by Malaysians to give them a chance to become the government which makes us confused," he said in the Umno Online Facebook Live People's Edition 2023 titled 'The retarded green wave’.

Ahmad Maslan, who is also a Member of Parliament for Pontian said that before this, there were several coalition parties such as Pas and Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) together with DAP and it was easily accepted by the people.

He said the relationship between Umno and DAP was difficult for the Malays to accept because there were parties who allegedly twisted the facts about the alliance.

He said that the formation of the Unity Government was suitable as an administrative model because it was inclusive to all parties.

"I think those obstacles are the facts which are twisted and slandered by the other side. That is one of the main reasons.
