MUAR - Perikatan Nasional (PN) will launch a manifesto themed 'Simpang Jeram Sejahtera dan Berpendidikan' in conjunction with the by-election of the Simpang Jeram state assembly tomorrow.

PN candidate for Simpang Jeram, Dr Mazri Yahya, said that the manifesto offered a plan to develop a prosperous and educated community in the area by focusing on several key issues.

"One of the main focuses of the manifesto is a vision for Simpang Jeram that supports the order and prosperity of its diverse community.

"Supported by a prosperous and knowledgeable community by focusing on consensus, the practice of justice, tolerance and harmony between religions and races, transparency in governance, and public order," he told reporters at Pas headquarters in Bakri today.

He shared that the second focus is to create a sense of concern between the leader and the community of Simpang Jeram, who work together regardless of race and background.

He added that the third focus is the empowerment of Simpang Jeram's human capital towards the survival of a knowledgeable generation with competitive, innovative, and intact spiritual values and identities.

"Therefore, on top of all the initiatives that have been outlined, I pledge that if I were elected in this by-election, we would strengthen the check and balance process in the Johor state assembly as a credible opposition.

"Unlike those who always criticise, I give a positive view of the goods of the people in Simpang Jeram and Johor in general," he pointed out.

Dr Mazri also promised to ensure that the state assembly service centre in the area can be opened to provide the best service to the community, as the welfare of all citizens is the priority.

"Also intensify the involvement of women, the younger generation, PWD (disabled) groups, and people of multiple races in every initiative or programme across Simpang Jeram," he said.

Apart from that, he also expressed his wish to organise public dialogue sessions with the people on a regular basis.

The Election Commission (EC) had fixed the voting day for the Simpang Jeram and Pulai by-elections for Sept 9.

Dr Mazri will come to compete with Pakatan Harapan (PH), BN candidate Nazri Abdul Rahman, and independent candidate S Jeganathan.
