KUALA LUMPUR - Rice production company Jasmine Food Corporation Sdn Bhd (JFC) confirms the viral video on social media of local rice allegedly repackaged as imported rice was fake.

Sebenarnya.My portal quoted Agriculture and Food Securities Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu's statement on the video displaying the imported white rice (BPI) recorded in the Jasmine factory in Tunjang, Alor Setar, on Saturday.

"Repackaging BPI is a common process when the packages burst or the rice was dusty while it was in stores.

"JFC applies the replacement policy to wholesalers for rice that does not meet quality standards set by authorities," he said in a statement on Wednesday.

A viral video on social media on Tuesday displayed rice sacks going through a repackaging process at a factory that were allegedly local rice repackaged into imported rice to be sold. - AWANI
