The performance kicked off with obedience training where the K9 dogs from IPD KLIA were seen following its master’s instructions, namely sitting down when told to do so
Not only that, the K9 dogs also did a demonstration on how it would sniff and identify drugs hidden among other boxes which certainly caught everyone’s attention.
However the 'catch the criminal' demonstration by a German Shepard caught everyone's attention by catching a thief in less than 10 seconds.
K9 training chief Sarjan Major Simon Santanasamy said the dogs were given sufficient training before it starts its duty with police personel
"The K9 dogs are with us since it is one-year-old.
“We give them three to four months of proper training and they are all set to start their duty,” he told Sinar Daily.
When asked on the dog’s biggest achievements, Simon highlighted the dog’s involvements during the Batang Kali landslide search and rescue operation, also during the water surge tragedy in Terengganu.
“Their achievements are a lot, we cannot name most of it since its in the police records," he said
