Boy dies, father seriously injured after car crashes into bike

PORT DICKSON - A four-year-old boy returning from kindergarten riding pillion on his father’s motorcycle died after they were involved in an accident with a car at kilometre 16 of the Sua Betong-Air Kuning Road on Thursday.

Port Dickson district police chief Superintendent Aidi Sham Mohamed said the victim, Muhammad Shaheizy Iman Muhammad Shazrein was pronounced dead at the red zone of the Port Dickson Hospital.

He said the incident at 1.30pm occurred when the motorcycle rider, who was a Ladang Sua Betong technician on their way back home after he fetched his child from Pasti Al Hasan, Taman Desa Port Dickson before they were involved in an accident with a 33-year-old Singaporean man driving a vehicle.

“Initial investigations found the accident had occurred while both vehicles were coming from the Air Kuning area to Ladang Sua Betong,” he said in a statement on Friday.

The Singaporean man was remanded for three days following the accident.

Aidi Sham said the rider suffered a broken shoulder and right leg while the passenger had died while receiving treatments at the hospital.

“The driver did not sustain any injuries. Urine tests found the driver negative for drugs and a breathalyser test showed no alcohol content in his blood.

“The man was remanded for three days starting today and further investigations were underway under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act (RTA) 1987,” he said.

Police asked for witnesses who were at the scene to report to the nearest police station to aid investigations and the public was advised not to release any speculations on the incident.

His comment came after a viral claim on social media that the vehicle involved in the accident was in a race before it crashed into the motorcycle.
