Umno's struggle now solely to save Zahid - Dr M
JOHOR BAHRU - Umno's struggle is now claimed to be no longer for the Malays but is more directed towards Umno President Datuk Dr Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
Former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad said that those left in Umno now should just leave the party because there is no more hope and it will be challenging to recover.
"Umno used to be so strong and prominent in the eyes of the Malays, but after the 15th General Election (GE15) and state elections, look at how many seats the party won. It's quite sad.
"Umno is not fighting for religion, race, or the country anymore, but only to save Zahid.
"Umno's struggle now is solely to protect Zahid.
"Zahid said that I want to destroy Umno, but the one destroying Umno is its own leader, Zahid," he said.
He said this when speaking at the Perikatan Nasional (PN) Mega Finale Ceramah in Taman Kempas Utama, here, tonight.
Present were the PN Chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin; Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamed; Pas Deputy President Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man; Gerakan President Datuk Dr Dominic Lau Hoe Chai; and PN Secretary-General Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin.
