PUTRAJAYA - DAP chairman Lim Guan Eng has described Perikatan Nasional (PN) as experts in defamation who spin their defeats into victories.

He said PN is known for its expertise in twisting their defeats into victories by highlighting increases in votes.

"I want to remind PN that they once declared the six-state election to be a people's referendum on the Prime Minister's leadership.

"But Pakatan Harapan (PH) - Barisan Nasional (BN) won the popular vote with 49.5 per cent, compared to PN's 49.3 per cent," he said during his speech at the 2023 DAP conference here.

Lim added that the main point is that Malaysians have rejected PN and should use the victory in Johor as a basis to regain PN's constituencies.

He said DAP will not engage in the political dirty games of the opposing party that manipulate racial sentiments and extremism.

"We must expose the politics of slander, internal strife, hatred, and terror threats that divide the people without benefiting anyone.

"Do not believe in political opportunists who pretend to be principled statesmen or young people supporting old politics filled with jealousy and envy just for the sake of revenge," he said.

Lim also said that Malaysians support a unity government that efficiently manages the economy and the cost of living.

He said that Malaysians do not want to regress as some states governed by PN have faced issues such as a lack of clean water.

"Do not forget the PN government's failed performance despite spending RM530 billion while people had to wave the white flag," he said.

Commenting further, Lim said that within nine months, the unity government has managed to control the inflation rate, keeping it at a low level of 2 percent in July, and achieving sustainable economic growth.

"To reduce borrowing costs, Bank Negara is considering lowering the overnight policy rate (OPR) in the future, as inflation is now under control.

"In addition, there is now the National Industry Master Plan to attract RM95 billion in investments so that the monthly median salary can double to RM4,150 by 2030," he said.

He urged everyone not to forget that DAP must adhere to every decision of the party.

"Don't think that you are bigger than the party because without the party, you have no chance of holding a government position.

"Only a disciplined and united party can continue to be strong, guaranteeing victory in the 16th General Election (GE16)," he said.
