SHAH ALAM - The Umno leadership express gratitude over Barisan Nasional (BN) and Pakatan Harapan's (PH) victory in the Pulai by-election yesterday.

Umno secretary-general Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki said the success proved that Johor had their own identity.

"They (Johoreans) had their methods and specialities to defend the principles of moderation, progressiveness as well as inclusiveness based on Islamic and Malay inclusiveness to the multi-racial and multi-religious society in the beloved country.

"After this we must prove that the unity government at a federal and state level has a solid cooperation and consensus and the PH and BN machinery would be able to provide the best service to the public," he said in a post on Facebook, today.

Asyraf said the close cooperation will take the nation and Johor towards excellence so that it can improve the lives of the multi-religion and multi-racial public.

It was previously reported that PH successfully maintained power in Pulai Parliament after gaining a majority of 18,651 votes.

He congratulated the new Pulai MP Suhaizan Kaiat and Simpang Jeram assemblyman Nazri Abdul Rahman for winning the by-election.

Umno information chief Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said said the victory brought the meaning of Johor BN successfully translating the unity aspirations implemented by the Madani government.

"Johor PH-BN successfully went through their third test on the unity platform for matters discussed and implemented at a central level not rhetorically, but for successfully setting aside political differences for a stable government bringing prosperity. "The confidence of voters towards the two representatives must be translated by the government by doubling all efforts to overcome any community, economy and living issues faced by the public," she said in a post today.

Umno Youth chief Dr Muhammad Akmal Saleh said the Pulai by-election victory was a sign that the PH-BN wave was beginning.

"Alhamdulillah, we will begin the red and blue wave in Johor. Continue working for the public," he said.
