SHAH ALAM - KDEB Waste Management (KDEBWM) received an official visit from a delegation from Gamuda Land Vietnam and Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam deputy mayor Bui Xuan Cuang on Saturday, aimed at learning about solid waste management and recycling activities carried out in Selangor.

In a statement, KDEBWM's media and public relations department informed that the three-hour meeting was held to exchange views on solid waste management.

Its CEO, Datuk Ramli Mohd Tahir said that the visit is a continuation of their collaboration with Gamuda Land Malaysia in environmental sustainability and recycling initiatives.

He noted that the Vietnamese delegation was interested in the system used by KDEBWM in Selangor.

"I have shared information related to solid waste management operations, recycling practices carried out by us, and the construction of sustainable waste treatment plants that will be built in the state.

"This is because the urban population in Ho Chi Minh City has 12 million people, and they also have challenges to ensure their city is clean at a low cost," he said.

The delegation, comprising 24 members, was led by Gamuda Land Vietnam chairman, Liew Bing Fooi, strategic cooperation division chief, Nguyen Quang Anh Dung, public relations and communications executive director, Le Minh Triet, deputy director general, Truong Le Thi, and others.

Ramli explained that the visit also allowed them to showcase the Centralised Command Centre, which manages complaints and monitors the movement of garbage trucks owned by KDEBWM throughout Selangor.
