KUALA LUMPUR - Police once again will record the statement of former Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

This is with regards to his statement that Malays will lose their powers, while campaigning during the Simpang Jeram by-election in Johor on Thursday.

Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Tan Sri Razarudin Husain said the statement of the former prime minister would be taken due to his statement relating to 3R (race, religion, royalty) issue.

"Investigation papers have been opened after police received reports on Sept 7, the statement recording session would be done by the Bukit Aman Classified Crime Investigation Unit (USJT).

"The investigations on the case would be done under Section 4 (A) of the Election Offences Act and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998," he said on Tuesday.

The former prime minister on Sept 3 allegedly released a racially charged statement in the Simpang Jeram by-election campaign in a ceramah at Johor.

His speech was shared on Facebook where it contained statements such as "Malays today no longer control the government" and "Malays have lost their powers, whether they realise it or not".
