SHAH ALAM - Former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and his wife Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohamad Ali extended their condolences to the family of TV3 Nightline news anchor the late Raymond Goh, or his Muslim name Muhammad Zaman Goh, who died on Tuesday.

Dr Mahathir, through his official Facebook post, also hoped and prayed for Goh's soul to be placed among the righteous.

"The late was known as the man with the golden voice and was long involved with the broadcasting world since TV3 was established.

"At the time, I was the fourth prime minister. Indeed, he (the late Muhammad Zaman) would always be remembered as another legend in the news anchor world.

The veteran news anchor was reported to be in a critical state after he suffered a stroke and was placed in a hospital in Petaling Jaya, Selangor, on Aug 30. He passed away around 10.40am on Tuesday.

His wife Faridah Teh stated the jenazah prayers would be held at At-Taqwa Mosque, Taman Tun Dr Ismail, and the burial would be at the Bukit Kiara Islamic Cemetery, Kuala Lumpur, after Asar prayers today.

Goh, who had been active in the broadcasting world for over 30 years, began his career as a news anchor at 7 O'clock News and moved to the Nightline programme at the same television station.
