GST reimplementation: 'I will answer it on Monday' - Ahmad Maslan

KAJANG - The question of whether the government will reimplement the Goods and Service Tax (GST) will be known on Monday.

Deputy Finance Minister I Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan said he had received feedbacks from MPs and would comment on the matter in Parliament.

“I will answer it on Monday in Dewan Rakyat regarding the matter (GST reimplementation) as it had been brought up by several parties in (Dewan Rakyat) speeches.

“Yesterday (Wednesday) I met with government MPs regarding their feedback on 2024 Budget, many were present in the debate and there were questions on GST.

“I have informed them all that it would be answered on Monday after the Prime Minister’s Department session,” he told media after officiating the 2023 Mid Term Property Market Report on Thursday.

Previously several parties urged the government to reinstate the GST system to solve the leakage issue in taxes.

However, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has yet to decide to reinstate the GST.

National Chegu Bard charged with making seditious, defamatory remarks
The charge is framed under Section 4(1)(c) of the Sedition Act 1948 and punishable under the same law which provides a maximum fine of RM5,000 or imprisonment not exceeding three years or both if convicted.
