Three elderlies die in road crash after grandchild's funeral

SEGAMAT - Three elderly who died in an accident on Jalan Johor Bahru-Seremban yesterday were on their way home from one of their grandchild's funeral at Felda Pemanis.

Ambok Salingkek Abdul Fatah, 69, son of Indok Akok Dg Sitakak, 89, who is one of the victims said that the three attended his child's funeral.

"They were returning from Felda Pemanis here after Asar (Muslim afternoon prayer time) from visiting my child's funeral. I accepted God's will.

"A case like this is very touching and teaches the meaning of strength," said the man, who was still taken aback but remained calm by the loss of both his mother and child in a single day.

Ambok was met by reporters at Segamat District Hospital (HDS) Forensic Department today.

In the accident yesterday afternoon, three seniors, namely Indok Akok, Tahallah Abd Fatah, 62, and Fatimah Ismail, 66, had passed away after the Perodua Alza they were riding in with 10 family members was hit by a Toyota Hilux pickup on their way home in Parit Kerimun, Benut, Pontian.

Three other victims who were injured in the three-vehicle pileups were still being treated at HDS.

In the meantime, all the remains were brought home for burial at the Islamic Cemetery in Kampung Parit Karimun, Benut after Friday prayers today.
