KUALA LUMPUR – Police have increased security in the area around the city centre following the organisation of the Save Malaysia gathering scheduled to take place after Zohor.

Sinar’s survey found that police officers were stationed in strategic locations and around the Kampung Baru area, near here, which was chosen as a gathering place by the secretariat of the Save Malaysia Movement.

Although there were no roadblocks implemented on the main route leading into the centre of Kuala Lumpur until 12 noon, the police was prepared to face any eventualities.

The police’s Motorcycle Patrol Unit (URB) was also mobilised to ensure the smooth flow of traffic around the capital.

Sinar was informed that light transit rail (LRT), mass transit rail (MRT) and monorail services would not stop at several stations around the city centre for a certain period.

It was understood that the public transport facilities involved would not stop at the following stations: Pasar Seni, Jamek Mosque, Bandaraya, Sultan Ismail, Kampung Baru, Dang Wangi, Medan Tuanku, Bukit Nenas, Raja Chulan, Bukit Bintang, Imbi, Hang Tuah and the Museum Country.
