Tun Faisal, Dr Afif among 25 summoned by cops over rally - Allaudeen

KUALA LUMPUR - The police have opened an investigation paper over the 'Save Malaysia' rally held over two kilometres from Kampung Baru to the Sogo shopping centre in the capital yesterday.

City police chief Datuk Allaudeen Abdul Majid said so far, they had identified 25 individuals involved.

He said they were among 16 people who gave speeches at the rally.

"We contacted 22 individuals so far and six of them will provide their statements at the Dang Wangi District Police Headquarters (IPD) tomorrow (Monday)," he told Astro Awani today.

Commenting further, Allaudeen said among the six who will have their statements recorded were Muafakat Nasional (MN) Supreme Council member Datuk Tun Faisal Ismail Aziz and Taman Medan assemblyman Dr Afif Bahardin.

He pointed out that the investigation was carried out in accordance with Section 9 (1) of the Peaceful Assembly Act 2012 which provides a maximum fine of RM10,000, if convicted.

Yesterday, several groups participated in a rally and had marched from Masjid Jamek Kampung Baru to the Sogo shopping complex after performing Zuhur prayers together.

The rally was led by Faisal and the Save Malaysia rally secretariat Badrul Hisham Shaharin, also known as Chegu Bard.

Faisal together with Bersatu information chief Datuk Razali Idris and Pejuang information chief Muhammad Rafique Rashid Ali also went to the Dang Wangi IPD to lodge a police report.

The police said the rally was found to be not complying with the laws stipulated in the Act. - AWANI
