'Look at yourself in the mirror first before asking me to vacate my seat' - Syed Saddiq

KUALA LUMPUR - Malaysian United Democratic Alliance (Muda) president Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman reaffirms that he would not step down from his position despite facing the pressure following the party's withdrawal from the unity government.

The Muar MP said those exerting pressure on him should reflect on themselves instead before making such statements.

"If they want me to vacate my parliamentary seat, they should reflect on themselves first.

"They had made promises to the people and were chosen and given mandate by the people based on integrity, fighting against corruption, not dropping (criminal) cases. That is why they were chosen.

"If they are brave enough, go back to the people. Will they be re-elected?.

"If they were to make promises before the general election that if they won, 'the case will be dropped', will they be chosen by the people then?," he said during a press conference at the Parliament today.

Syed Saddiq also responded to a statement by Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Law and Institutional Reforms) Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said who claimed that the current government is a government that 'walks the talk'.'

He said he current government has not fulfilled its promises to the people and opposition MPs.

"I hear that this government is a government that 'walks the talk,' but it has proven to be a 'NATO' government, which means 'No Action Talk Only.' They say they will declare their assets, but eight months have passed and they still have not done so.

"They claim they will provide fair allocations, but after a few months, there is no funding.

"They say they will fight corruption, but they still drop charges repeatedly," he added. - AWANI
