ALOR GAJAH - An unidentified body, nearly unrecognisable, was discovered by the public at the edge of an oil palm plantation road in Ladang Gadek, Kemuning near here last Saturday.

Melaka police chief, Datuk Zainol Samah, stated that the results of the post-mortem examination indicated that the victim, found at around 10am, was believed to have been stabbed multiple times with a sharp weapon before succumbing to his death.

He mentioned that the victim's skull was fractured on the left side, the jawbone was fractured in several places, in addition to two neck bones, the right hand bone, the knees and legs.

"It is believed that there are 18 sharp injury marks on the neck, chest, as well as both legs and hands.

"The Alor Gajah Hospital forensic unit found that the cause of death was severe injuries due to sharp objects, including to the neck and chest," he said in a statement today.

He further stated that no identification documents were found in the vicinity of the victim's discovery, and they have not been able to confirm the true identity until the results of the deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) test conducted on the victim's family members are obtained.

He said that a police report had previously been made by a local family at the Tampin district police headquarters (IPD) regarding the disappearance of a local man, but they have not yet connected the case to the victim.

"Initially, the case was classified as sudden death, but it is now being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder," he said.

Prior to this, Sinar reported the heartbreak of a mother upon learning about the discovery of a murdered and burnt body, believed to be her son, in the Percha Forest area here last week.
