SHAH ALAM - Jobstreet, the popular employment portal, has revealed that the Information Technology (IT) industry is currently witnessing the most substantial median salary growth.

According to its latest salary guide data, the IT sector has experienced an impressive 28 per cent increase, soaring from RM3,750 to RM4,800.

Among the various roles in the industry, Computers and IT specialists stood out with the highest median salary, reaching RM6,000.

Managing Director Vic Sithasanan attributed this remarkable growth to Malaysia's intensified focus on digital transformation initiatives, driven by government initiatives in said industry.

"Malaysia's heightened emphasis on digital transformation, supported by the government's continuous commitment to this field, is likely the driving force behind the surge in demand for IT roles," stated Sithasanan.

Nevertheless, he also cautioned that this rapid growth might not be sustainable in the long term, citing the layoffs that have affected major tech companies worldwide, earlier this year.

He emphasized the need for comprehensive educational reforms in Malaysia to build a solid foundation for producing more skilled IT specialists in the future.

Jobstreet also highlighted that the demand for IT professionals was a no-brainer in a landscape where the digital economy continues to flourish in Malaysia.
