KUALA LUMPUR - The police had confirmed that famous preacher Ebit Irawan Ibrahim Lew or Ebit Lew is being investigated over the alleged rape of Indonesian influencer Mondy Tattoo.

He said that Mondy had previously made a police report stating that she had been raped by the preacher.

He revealed that five days before Ebit made a report, the police had received a report from Mondy claiming that she had been raped.

"As soon as he arrived in Malaysia, Ebit Lew made a police report regarding defamation allegations against him and another police report to deny the rape case.

"So far, the Indonesian woman is still in Malaysia," he said at a press conference at Bukit Aman Police Headquarters today.

Commenting further, Shuhaily said that his party had called 13 witnesses in relation to the two cases so far.

In regards to an allegation that the police had confiscated Mondy's mobile phone, he said that they only took it for investigation purposes.

"We took Mondy's phone for investigation as there are legal provisions for such an action.

"When we took it, it was used to investigate whether the content in the mobile phone and the time coincide with the report being made," he said.

He said that the case was investigated under Section 376 of the Penal Code, Section 500 of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.
