LABUAN - The open interview for vocational training for persons with disabilities (PWDs) here has received an overwhelming response.

The programme, in collaboration with the Labuan Social Welfare Department, is being held from today until Sept 24 at three different locations, specifically for PWDs aged between 14 and 35.

Those selected will undergo training at the Training and Rehabilitation Complex for Disabled in Kimanis, Papar, Sabah, for the February 2024 intake.

Complex principle Dk Suhaila Pg Suhaimi said this initiative aimed to provide vocational training opportunities for individuals with disabilities, enhancing their skills and employability prospects.

"With a commitment to inclusivity and empowerment, the complex offers four specialised training programmes tailored to the unique needs and interests of its students.

"We are thrilled to witness such an enthusiastic response from parents and candidates alike...our goal is to equip disabled individuals with the skills and confidence needed to lead an independent life,” she said, adding that the programmes offered are pastry, sewing, computer and rattan furniture.

Parents and candidates are encouraged to participate in the open interview sessions at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Labuan today, Sekolah Kebangsaan Patau-Patau (Sept 23) and Taman Perumahan LDA Community Hall, Sg Bedaun on Sept 24. - BERNAMA
