SK Permatang Tok Kandu classrooms destroyed in fire
PERMATANG PAUH - Five classrooms at Sekolah Kebangsaan Permatang Tok Kandu here, were destroyed in a fire that occurred on a Friday evening.
A spokesperson for the Operations Center of the Penang Fire and Rescue Department said that they received a report of the incident at about 6.02pm before several teams rushed to the scene of the incident.
According to him, when the fire and rescue team arrived at the scene of the incident, they found that there was a fire on the top floor of the school's three-story building.
It is understood that at the time of the incident there were no students in the school area.
According to him, the fire was brought under control at 6.30pm and the extinguishing operation was also assisted by nearby fire brigade volunteers.
It is believed Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek will visit the site soon.
