MACHANG - A former lecturer heard multiple gunshots before realizing that a man had been shot in front of his house in Tok Bok, near here, today.

The 74-year-old elderly man said that at the time of the incident, he had just woken up from sleep to prepare for the morning prayer at a nearby mosque at 4am.

According to him, he didn't pay much attention to the heard gunshots, thinking that nothing serious had happened.

"At that time, I was going to the bathroom and heard gunshots about three times.

"After getting ready and leaving the house to go to the mosque with my wife, I saw many police officers in front of the fence and a car that was wrecked on the side of the road," he said when met at the scene of the incident here today.

He added that upon seeing the situation, he assumed it was an accident and asked the police.

"I asked if there was an accident, but they didn't elaborate further.

"I only saw a man sitting near a tree by the house fence (believed to be one of the suspects)," he said.
