Mudah.my provides direct link to police's Semak Mule website to help users avoid scams

KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysia's leading consumer-to-consumer (C2C) digital marketplace, Mudah.my, is taking a bold step to collaborate with the police to ensure user safety in the digital economy era under its #MudahDanSelamat campaign.

Mudah.my CEO Gaurav Bhasin said the company will have a close working relationship with the police to assist with investigations and provide insights into common scam tactics.

"We are deeply committed to providing a safe and secure experience for all users and encourage them to utilise the safety features provided on the platform while practising precautions recommended by the police to stay safe when shopping online," he said at the campaign launch here today.

Gaurav said Mudah.my has provided a direct link to the police's Semak Mule website on its platform, which allows users to check if a phone number and bank account are linked to any suspicious activity.

The Federal Police Film/Music/Patent Crime police department also attended the event.

Guarav said people tend to become more aware of potential pitfalls, but recent global events, such as the pandemic, have accelerated the influx of new digital users in Malaysia.

"These individuals, while eager to embrace the convenience of digital platforms, might still need to possess the necessary skills to navigate them safely.

Besides collaborating with the police, Mudah.my has embarked on a mission to educate and empower its diverse user base, spanning urban areas to villages, encompassing both individual users and local small and medium-sized businesses.

"The objective is clear: to reduce the risk of users falling prey to unscrupulous actors, be they local or international," he stressed, adding that the #MudahDanSelamat campaign will be ongoing.
