SHAH ALAM - The recital of the holy Quran echoed throughout the over 300-kilometre (km) journey from the Triang Train Station, Bera, Pahang, to Dabong, Kelantan, on Tuesday.

The melodious recital from the Quran came from the 52 Bera Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) Maktab Rendah Sains Mara (MRSM) following the Me and My Quran Train to Dabong programme for three days.

The programme was special as it celebrated the students who successfully memorised over 15 of the Quran constituents.

MRSM headmaster Mohd Nizar Idris said the programme that started at 3.20am on Saturday did not only have the Quran recital on the train exclusively.

“The mahabbah programme showed the importance of the Quran to remain in our hearts wherever we are.

“May our love for Allah’s words cross all dimensions and be carved in the hearts of these children,” he said in a media statement.

During the six-hour journey, the huffaz (those who memorised the Quran) also played the tasmik (listening to a recital) of themselves for the 23 teachers accompanying the students to join them.

The remote programme coordinator, religious preacher Muhd Fikri Kassim, explained the programme represented the idea expressed by the school headmaster to give students a new experience by boarding a train while reading and memorising the Quran and interacting with the community.

“It’s hoped that this programme would give valuable experience to students and provide additional love towards the Quran that became a great miracle in the Prophet Muhammad SAW’s time,” he said.

Student Nur Najwa Sofiyyah Ahmd Yang said she had mixed feelings when meeting with the community ‘on the ground’.
