Think City unveils RM10 million cultural heritage programmes

With an allocation of RM10 million under Budget 2022 of the region's construction,Think City Managing Director Hamdan Abdul Majeed revealed that the programme is currently focused on Malaysia’s northern region.
“After 18 months of dedicated effort, this initiative encompasses an extensive exploration of cultural heritage sites, historical landmarks, monuments, royal cities, and historic heritage locations.
“The comprehensive scope of the program aims to transform these areas into vibrant and culturally enriched communities,” Hamdan told Sinar Daily.
He said this after the Think City documentaries screening at Dadi Cinema, Pavilion Kuala Lumpur, today.
Hamdan said that further efforts were underway to expand and strengthen this programme, with the dual objectives of boosting the local economy and drawing attention to lesser-known but culturally significant locations, often hidden gems waiting to be discovered.
“These efforts will span the entire Northern region of Malaysia, ensuring that within a mere two-hour journey, individuals can access and learn about new cultures, connect with different communities, and explore fresh locales,” he added.
When asked on his thoughts on why Think City was focusing on Northern Malaysia, he said that the choice of this region as the initial focal point was not arbitrary.
“It serves as a testament to Malaysia's belief in its rich historical heritage and its commitment to showcasing the potential of cultural preservation and promotion.
“We firmly believe that Malaysia as a whole is blessed with a wealth of history that must not be forgotten, as history is the key to the future,” he said.
Hamdan added that as a Malaysian, it is important for us to cherish and preserve our history, which is beneficial for future generations.
