SHAH ALAM - The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) should investigate and charge Pas candidates in Kuala Terengganu and Kemaman for alleged corruption and bribery.

Umno Supreme Council member Datuk Mohd Puad Zarkashi, said it was strange that the court found both candidates guilty of bribery but did not charge them, allowing them to run for office again.

He said the same situation might also occur in Masjid Tanah, involving Datuk Mas Ermieyati Samsudin, as the Melaka Election Court on Monday set Oct 27 as the date for the election petition decision for the parliamentary seat in that area.

"According to video evidence, the money was given openly. How can they run again? The Election Court annulled their victories due to corruption issues. Doesn't prima facie evidence exist? "So the MACC needs to investigate immediately and charge them. Masjid Tanah is Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia's (Bersatu) seat. That's probably why Bersatu deputy president Datuk Dr Radzi Jidin didn't go hysterical," he said in a Facebook post today.

On June 27, the Kuala Terengganu Election Court annulled the victory of Pas candidate Datuk Ahmad Amzad Hashim for the Kuala Terengganu parliamentary seat in the 15th general election (GE15).

High Court Judge Datuk Seri Mohd Firuz Jaffril allowed the election petition filed by the Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate for the parliamentary seat, Mohd Zubir Embong, after the petitioner successfully proved the existence of corruption during the GE15 campaign.

Yesterday, the Terengganu Election Court received a petition filed by a voter to annul the victory of Pas MP for Kemaman, Che Alias Hamid in GE15.

The decision was made by Election Court Judge Datuk Anselm Charles Fernandis after finding evidence of bribery to voters during the election campaign for the Kemaman parliamentary seat.
