KUALA LUMPUR - The top five positions in Pas will not be contested at the party's 69th Muktamar, scheduled to be held next month.

Its secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan said the five positions involve the president, deputy president, and three vice presidents.

"For the positions of president and deputy president, as well as the three vice presidents, there is only one nomination, which is to retain the existing positions (no contest).

"So, this year's competition only involves the selection of central Pas committee members," he said at a special press conference at Pas Headquarters here today.

The meeting is expected to take place from Oct 20 to 22 at the Ideal Convention Centre (IDCC), Shah Alam.

Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang, who took over the Pas leadership from the late Datuk Dr Fadzil Noor in 2002, has thus become the longest-serving leader in that position.

Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man, on the other hand, held the second-highest position in the party since 2015.

The three positions of Pas Vice President were held by Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar, Datuk Idris Ahmad, and Datuk Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah.
