BENTONG - Pahang Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Ismail said he was not campaigning in Pelangai during a programme held here, but was instead attending to his official duties.

"I am just doing my job as a Menteri Besar elected by the people together with my government colleagues," he said.

Wan Rosdy made this remark with regards to allegations that he was campaigning by organising an aid programme at a local school during the campaigning period of the Pelangai by-election.

According to him, it was just another government initiative that happened to take place in Bentong where the polls is also being held.

"They are elected here (SMK Sri Pelangai). What is not allowed is for us to wear party clothes, and give money to voters,Those present are not all voters, I don't know who they are, they were just invited to this event.

"I will often be in Bentong and Pelangai in the near future, so they decided to hold the programme here. Otherwise, I would not be able to make it," he explained.

Prior to that, he was present to inaugurate the handing over of Bank Rakyat Foundation's schooling aid at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Pelangai today.

Also present were Bank Rakyat Foundation deputy chairman Datuk Nurul Akmal Mohd Fauzi and Bentong Member of Parliament Young Syefura Othman.

Wan Rosdy also expressed his appreciation to the Bank Rakyat Foundation for carrying out its social responsibility programme to benefit school students.
