10 areas record unhealthy API

SHAH ALAM - A total of 10 areas in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Perak, Negeri Sembilan and Putrajaya record unhealthy Air Pollution Index (API) readings as of 5pm today.

According to the Air Pollution Index Management System (APIMS) website, the highest API was recorded in Cheras, Kuala Lumpur with a reading of 155, followed by Kuala Selangor, Selangor (154); Petaling Jaya, Selangor (153) and Batu Muda, Kuala Lumpur (152).

Two other areas in Selangor affected by the haze were Johan Setia with a current reading of 151 and Shah Alam (147), while Nilai, Negeri Sembilan recorded a reading of 141 and Putrajaya (113).

Two areas in Perak also recorded unhealthy API readings, namely Taiping with a current reading of 140 and Tasek Ipoh (111).

An API reading of 0 to 50 indicated good air quality; 51 to 100, moderate; 101 to 200, unhealthy; 201 to 300, very unhealthy and 300 and above, hazardous.
