Johor prepared for possible threat of Disease X

JOHOR BAHRU - The Johor government is always prepared for any possibility in regards to the threat of Disease X.

Johor State Health and Culture Exco Ling Tian Soon said even though the disease was being talked about among the public, there was no further information about the disease.

However, he advised the public to always be alert to any possibility in the future.

"For me, our health frontliners are always ready because before we have had experience with Covid-19.

"However, we all need to be vigilant in addition to taking care of health and cleanliness of the environment," he told reporters after the launch of the Johor state-level Wellness Month Celebration 2023 at the Wellness Hub HAS, here, on Friday.

Ling said this when asked to comment on the possible threat of a new disease known only as Disease X.

Ling said there had not been any report received about the disease but all parties needed to be prepared for any unexpected challenges by always following the current developments regarding the disease.

"Until today, we have not received any further reports about this disease.

"But like the statement that I always issue such as dengue cases, HFMD (hand foot and mouth disease) are decreasing, which is also the efforts of our frontliners," he said.
