BENTONG - Pelangai's development would be far worse if the opposition led the area previously, says Umno Supreme Council member Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan.

He was reacting to a statement by the opposition, who had described the development in the area to not be on par with its status of being a Menter Besar area for eight terms.

Ahmad Maslan said it was important to ensure that Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate Datuk Amizar Abu Adam succeeds in winning the Pelangai state seat to improve the needs of its residents.

"If government (representatives) in rural areas after eight terms have brought about these conditions, then if the opposition (leads) for 80 terms there would be no (development) and a much more worse situation.

"The opposition could not do anything to develop and add towards Pelangai's progress. That's a fact that the public must accept.

"It's important to ensure that the representative from BN win as this will add to and improve development in Pelangai," he said when met at the Sembang Santai Unity programme at Kampung Hayat, here on Sunday.

Sinar previously reported Pelangai by-election Perikatan Nasional (PN) candidate Kasim Samat describing the residents of Pelangai should be able to enjoy a major change in development ever since Tan Sri Adnan Yaakob leadership.

Adnan who was the former Umno leader had served for 36 years as the Pelangai Assemblyman and 19 years as the Pahang Menteri Besar.

Ahmad Maslan added he was confident that a different leadership in Pahang and Pelangai would primarily give a different impact to the development in Pelangai.
