MP calls for Mat Sabu to resign over food shortage issues

KUALA LUMPUR - Datuk Zulkafperi Hanapi (PN - Tanjong Karang) called on the minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu, to step down from his position.

He claimed that the Kota Raja Member of Parliament (MP) was incompetent particularly when it came to addressing the nation's food supply issues.

Zulkafperi said this during the discussion of the Public Finance and Fiscal Responsibility Bill 2023, in the Dewan Rakyat on Wednesday.

"Someone's leadership role in a political party does not mean it automatically qualifies someone for a ministerial nomination or position.

"This can be proven in the Agriculture and Food Security's minister's failure, who seems to be adept at following rather than leading his ministry.

"This is clear from the egg issue and the current problem with the local white rice supply.

"So I want to apologize to Kota Raja the minister but I urge for him to resign.

"Or the Prime Minister must replace him with someine who is better suited to take over this significant ministry and solve the problem of our current food supply that is affecting the nation, he said - AWANI
