Budget 2024: Government to ensure lower float price for chicken and eggs

KUALA LUMPUR - The government will be balancing and floating the prices of chicken and eggs much lower than the current price.

In his Budget 2024 speech, Finance Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the current trends showed the chicken and egg supply had started stabilising and the market price was under the controlled ceiling.

“The temporary price control will be waived to ensure the local market moves freely, ensuring uninterrupted supply," he said.

The Prime Minister said this announcement will further strengthen efforts taken by the Agriculture and Food Security Ministry within a period of two weeks.

“This will be announced in a short period by the ministry, which has consulted with producers and ensured that there has been no increase in prices imposed by companies and traders,” he said.
