SHAH ALAM - The government plans to renovate and upgrade aged hawker centres and public market infrastructure in 150 local authority areas (PBT) with an allocation of RM110 million.

Finance Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the government is aiming to enhance and improve the cleanliness of 10,000 stalls and small shops, allocating RM10 million for this purpose.

“A total of 4,000 new, uniform, comfortable, and safe business units will be constructed across PBT areas, with an allocation of RM50 million.

“The government also agrees to waive kiosk rental fees for the first 6 months for businesses,” he said when tabling the second Madani Budget 2024 in the Dewan Rakyat today.

The Prime Minister also added that agencies such as Majlis Amanah Raya (Mara), Perbadanan Usahawan Nasional Berhad (PUNB), the Urban Development Authority (UDA) and the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) will also upgrade their business facilities.
