Budget 2024: Govt proposes increasing income tax exemption for childcare allowances

SHAH ALAM - The government proposes increasing the income tax exemption for childcare allowances received by employees or directly paid by employers to childcare centres from RM2,400 to RM3,000.

This was announced by Finance Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim during the tabling of Budget 2024 in Parliament, today.

The Madani Economy Framework, he said was to set the benchmark so that the rate of women’s participation in the labour force was increased by 60 per cent.

This, he said was also to encourage women to go back to work and the tax incentive for women who returned to work was extended until Dec 31, 2027.
