KUALA LUMPUR - A two-month-old female baby died at a nursery in Seksyen 6, Kota Damansara, Petaling Jaya, last Tuesday.

Qaseh Aulia Faizul took her last breath on her second day at the nursery.

According to her father, Faizul Ali Adam, he received a call from the nursery informing him that Aulia was unconscious with a pale blue face and had been taken to a hospital in Kota Damansara.

He rushed to the hospital but was told that his daughter had died.

The hospital confirmed that Aulia had died and referred her to Universiti Malaya Medical Centre (PPUM) for an autopsy to determine the cause of her death.

"The post-mortem process was carried out on Wednesday, Oct 11, and the results have not yet been released because the laboratory analysis results are still needed.

"However, the medical officer explained that respiratory failure was the most likely cause of death," Faizul told Astro Awani today.

Faizul said that he had seen the surveillance camera footage at the nursery and found that there was an element of carelessness on the part of the babysitter, who was allegedly a foreigner when looking after his swaddled child.

Following that, he lodged a police report.

"We truly accept the passing of our child from heavenly, but we are upset by the way that the nanny handled her.

"We certainly have a great wish to share a lesson and awareness to caregivers and parents out there to ensure the safety of babies or children at an optimum level," Faizul said.

Faizul and his family have also requested that the community help to spread the news of the baby's death in the hope that it will spark an awareness among the public.

"Together we raise an awareness and build a society that prioritizes the safety of babies and children," he called.
