'Recent Israeli actions resemble ethnic cleansing'

SHAH ALAM - The Asia Middle East Centre (Amec) for Research and Dialogue's founding director, Dr Muslim Imran has expressed deep concern over Israel's recent actions against Palestinians, describing them as extreme and reminiscent of ethnic cleansing.

"I visited Gaza after the 2012 conflict, and the devastation I saw then pales in comparison to the current situation," he said during the Keluar Sekejap (KS) podcast with Khairy Jamaluddin and Shahril Hamdan today.

Recent international reports highlighted intensified Israeli airstrikes in northern Gaza, specifically targeting homes in the Jabalia refugee camp and the Al-Mashrooh residential area in Beit Lahia.

Muslim detailed that Palestinians were even instructed to leave their homes, only to have them bombed soon after.

"To make matters worse, the region's electricity, water, and internet have been cut off, with Israel also obstructing the delivery of medical aid to Palestinians," he added.

He disclosed that some hospitals in Palestine have ceased operations due to a severe shortage of medical supplies, with many having less than half of the necessary resources.

"It's disheartening to see Palestinians' rights being overlooked with the passive complicity of global powers," he said.
