SHAH ALAM – The Pas Central Ulama Council has stressed that the mandate given by the people must not be squandered, let alone be used for personal gain or wealth accumulation.

Council chief Datuk Ahmad Yahaya, in his keynote speech at the 62nd Pas Ulama general meeting held at the Ideal Convention Centre in Shah Alam today, said the path ahead is becoming increasingly challenging, with the battleground of struggle becoming dense and formidable.

"I urge everyone not to retread but to continue their efforts in whatever field necessary," he said.

Ahmad Yahaya also highlighted the Ulama Council's vital role in tackling the Muslim community's concerns.

"Four decades of leadership by ulama (Islamic scholars), followed by extraordinary victories in the recent elections, require more active involvement from the ulama in participating in government policy discussions and providing solutions to the rakyat's problems," he added.

He also described the success of Pas and Perikatan Nasional (PN) in the 15th General Election (GE15) and State Elections as outstanding.

"We are grateful for the victories upon Pas, along with our partners in the PN coalition, in the recent elections.

"I would like to express huge appreciation to all Pas Central Ulama Council members at various levels for their dedication in assisting the party in the recent elections.
