Pahang state govt surprised over Genting toll, Exco to investigate

BENTONG - The Pahang State Government has never been any discussions to introduce a one-way toll charge to Genting Highlands.
Unity, Tourism and Culture Committee state chairman Leong Yu Man said the matter was never raised or discussed during the state Exco meeting.
"There is nothing official yet about the news report. We (the state government) have never discussed the toll proposal. I am gathering more information about the matter... Let me get more information about it first," she said when contacted by Sinar on Friday.
It was previously reported that a Lingkaran Cekap Sdn Bhd spokesman had said that vehicles headed up to Genting will be charged a toll fee. There will be no charges for the descent.
Lingkaran Cekap is responsible for roads in Genting, including slopes, landslides, clearing fallen trees, cutting grass, sewage systems and street lights, and most importantly maintaining roads.
Recently, a picture of the installation of a structure on Jalan Batang Kali-Gohtong Jaya went viral, thus attracting the attention of netizens who speculated that a toll plaza might be built. However, the company's spokesperson could not confirm the implementation date and the toll rate that will be charged.
