JOHOR BAHRU - Police have arrested a man suspected of driving under the influence of drugs and causing a collision with two cars before crashing into a palace gate at Kilometre 2.3 of Skudai Road, Pantai Lido, earlier today.

South Johor Bahru district police chief Assistant Commissioner Raub Selamat said that the incident occurred at 5.28 am and involved a gold Audi driven by a foreign man in his twenties.

"The man was travelling from the city centre towards Skudai with two passengers. Upon reaching the scene, he lost control of the vehicle on a bend, leading to a skid into the opposite lane.

"The foreigner's car subsequently collided with a white and red Proton Persona taxi, as well as a blue Perodua Aruz, before crashing into the palace gate on the roadside," he said in a release today.

Raub said that the foreign driver sustained minor injuries, while the taxi driver and the Perodua Aruz driver were unscathed.

He said that the palace gate was damage due to the collision.

"The suspect's urine test returned positive for methamphetamine. The case is now under investigation pursuant to Section 44(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987," he affirmed.

Raub urged any members of the public who witnessed the incident to provide information at the South Johor Bahru district police headquarters (IPD) or to contact the investigating officer, Inspector Hafiz Jaafar Mad Ariff, at 017-5919208.
