'Mat Sabu should remain as Amanah President' - Azizul Shah

TEMERLOH - Temerloh division Amanah chief, Azizul Shah Mohd Noor has expressed his hope that every party member will continue to support party President Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu for one more term.

He said that Mat Sabu's was still needed by the party before transitioning to a new leadership, which will certainly happen when the time comes.

"Elections and contests within the party are mature and democratic processes. I believe party members and representatives can assess wisely.

"But let Mat Sabu continue and complete his last term as president," he said on Saturday.

Amanah is set to hold its party elections for the 2023-2026 session, alongside the organisation of the Amanah National Convention 2023 in in December.

Azizul further described Mat Sabu's role as crucial in maintaining and strengthening the Unity Government.

He mentioned that this is due to his extensive experience as an "old-timer" in politics who has faced various challenges, successfully establishing Amanah and keeping the party intact alongside the existing government.

"Mat Sabu's role cannot be denied by anyone within the party. His dedication and loyalty to Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has been evident since the reformasi era," he said.

Azizul Shah added that during difficult times when Pakatan Harapan (PH) faced the crisis of a group of defectors during the 'Sheraton Move,' Mat Sabu, remained loyal and worked hard to maintain unity within PH.

"At one time, Mat Sabu boldly fought against Umno, but when the Yang di-Pertuan Agong commanded the formation of the Unity Government, he accepted it with an open heart for the sake of the people and the future of the country.

"He (Mat Sabu) has always worked diligently to help the PM strengthen the unity government and fortify the party.

"Now, the relationship between Parti Amanah Negara and Umno is becoming closer alongside other parties in the Unity Government," he added.
