SHAH ALAM - Local authorities in Selangor will not hesitate to take action against owners of lorries, trailers, and buses who park their vehicles in residential areas in the state.

Selangor Local Government and Tourism exco Ng Suee Lim said that there have been complaints from residents about the practice, which caused obstructions and inconveniences.

He said that enforcement officers will be monitoring the situation and taking action against offenders.

"We will ask local authorities to enforce the ban on parking heavy vehicles in residential areas.

"Vehicle owners must park in designated areas and not in residential areas, where they block traffic flow and cause disturbances, potentially risking accidents," Ng told Sinar when contacted.

When asked whether the state government was prepared to enforce a ban on parking in front of homes, similar to the ban in Johor, Ng said that the matter had yet to be discussed.

"Currently, there is no plan to do so, unless there is an urgent request.

"However, I believe that the situation is under control," he said.

Ng also commented on Selangor local authorities' preparations for the upcoming Northeast Monsoon season.

He said that the authorities are currently preparing for any eventuality and that they will be maintaining public infrastructure in areas at risk of flooding.

"We want to provide the best possible services to our residents.

"If we can improve the image of local authorities, it will indirectly improve the image of the state government," he added.
