Man who beats garbage truck driver had four prior criminal records - Police

SHAH ALAM - The man who went viral after beating and injuring a garbage truck driver at Jalan 6, Jalan Panchang Bedena, Sungai Besar, here had four prior criminal records.

Sabak Bernam district police chief Superintendent Agus Salim Mohd Alias said the suspect, in his late 50s, was involved in cases of criminal threats and injuring individuals.

He said the suspect was arrested by police at about 2am at a home in Pandan Perdana, Kuala Lumpur.

“After obtaining information, we arrested the man and seized the stick used at the scene, a steering key as well as a sports utility vehicle (SUV),” he told Sinar on Tuesday.

Agus said a urine test was conducted on the suspect, but he was found negative for any drugs.

He said through a detailed investigation, the suspect was found to be involved in the incident had been remanded for three days starting Monday.

Sinar previously reported police were tracking down the man who had gone viral on Facebook after beating and injuring a garbage truck driver at the scene on Sunday.

The incident at around 9.30am occurred after police received the complaint by the 37-year-old lorry driver.
