KUALA LUMPUR - The Dewan Rakyat session was disrupted this morning as all Opposition MPs from Perikatan Nasional (PN) were absent to attend a gathering in support of the Kelantan Syariah Criminal Code (I) Enactment 2019.

The gathering, which was held at the Palace of Justice in Putrajaya, was attended by more than 1,000 people, including PN leaders such as Pas Deputy President Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man and Pas Secretary-General Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan.

Bangi MP Syahredzan Johan took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to say that not a single Perikatan Nasional MP was in the lower house as of 10.52am.

“All their questions on the agenda were not asked. They also lost their chance to ask supplementary questions,” he said.

In a posting on X, Bentong MP Young Syefura Othman also said not a single Opposition MP was in the Dewan Rakyat as of 10.30am.

“They’re in Putrajaya it seems. Those who had questions submitted (for the question-and-answer session) should have stayed. It’s a waste that their question had to be skipped,” she said.

The five opposition MPs originally slotted for this morning are Ali Biju (Saratok), Ahmad Amzad Mohamed (Kuala Terengganu), Wan Hassan Mohd Ramli (Dungun), Muhammad Ismi Mat Taib (Parit) and Ikmal Hisham Abdul Aziz (Tanah Merah).
