109 Malaysians reported stranded in Laukkaing, Myanmar

The ministry stated in a press release that most of these Malaysians are believed to be victims of job offer scams abroad.
According to the statement, the Foreign Affairs ministry, through the Malaysian Embassies in Yangon and Beijing, as well as the Consulate General of Malaysia in Kunming, is coordinating rescue efforts with the Foreign Affairs Ministry of Myanmar as well as that of the People's Republic of China before finalising the arrangements to safely repatriate all Malaysian citizens involved.
"This effort is also receiving the cooperation of the Home Affairs Ministry, the police, and the Malaysian Immigration Department. The Foreign Affairs ministry continues to enhance efforts to address the issues faced by Malaysian citizens who fall victim to fraudulent job offer schemes abroad," the statement said.
Malaysians seeking employment abroad are reminded to exercise caution and verify the nature of the job offers.
