Cops identify driver who let child stick head out of sunroof of moving vehicle

JOHOR BAHRU - Police have identified a vehicle owner who let a child stick his head out through the sunroof of a moving vehicle.

Seri Alam district police chief Superintendent Mohd Sohami Ishak said the suspect was identified following a one-minute and seven-second video uploaded on X (formerly Twitter).

"Based on initial investigations, the incident occurred at about 9.30pm in Seri Alam on Nov 17.

"The driver of the vehicle acted negligently towards the safety of the child by allowing the child to stick his head out through the vehicle's sunroof.

"The police have identified the owner of the vehicle for further action," he said in a statement yesterday.

The case is being investigated under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001 which carries a fine of up to RM20,000 or imprisoned for a term not exceeding 10 years or both.
