SHAH ALAM - Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) delegates at the Annual General Assembly unanimously rejected the decision of Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin not to defend the position of President in the upcoming party elections.

The decision was announced by the permanent chairman Datuk Suhaimi Abdullah after the conclusion of discussions by 20 representatives participating in this year's assembly.

The delegates also passed two other motions relating to the matter, which are the motion to reject its supreme council members from holding meetings to discuss potential candidates for Muhyiddin's predecessors, as well as the current assembly to be Muhyiddin's final assembly as a president.

Suhaimi said that the motion was rejected was in line with Articles 123, 124, and 125 of the party's constitution.

Bersatu supreme council members held an emergency meeting yesterday to discuss the decision made by Muhyiddin and unanimously rejected the latter's decision to not defend his post.

During the President's Policy Speech yesterday, the Pagoh member of parliament announced that he would not defend his position to make way for new faces to lead the party.
