Bersatu may have suitable candidates to be president but Muhyiddin is still needed to steer the party

SHAH ALAM - Several candidates in Bersatu have shown exemplary leadership and charisma and can be considered capable of assuming the position currently held by party president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

Ketereh member of parliament Datuk Khlir Mohd Nor said while there are several people in the party who have shown themselves to be suitable for leadership roles, but he could not name anyone now.

“A leader must possess a certain charisma, and we will see who could be the next president after Tan Sri (Muhyiddin).

“I can't provide further comments, as everyone has their strengths,” he told Sinar Daily.

Bersatu Armada information chief Mohd Ashraf Mustaqim said Muhyiddin’s influence contributed to the victory in the previous state election and this influence was crucial.

“While anyone can be the president, they must compete, and there are no personal favourites for me.

“The qualifications for the president are outlined in the constitution, and for me, someone who is qualified is someone who has served significantly and believes in the struggle.If they bring about positive change and contribute as much as Muhyiddin, then they are fit take his place.

“Tan Sri (Muhyiddin) would want to see a successor who can carry on the party's legacy. No leader wants to see their party decline,” he said.
