SHAH ALAM - A customer of banking institution Maybank was surprised to find that her savings account has more than RM400 million.

The Straits Times reported that HR Forum Malaysia director and co-founder Hafidzah Abdullah said it was impossible for her to become a millionaire overnight.

She said she did not expect to go through a long process when she reported the problem to the bank as well as to regain access to her account.

"I appreciate the experience you (Maybank) gave as an unforgettable moment, but I think this problem is a bit too much.

“You thought I won the lottery, didn't you? Not really, it's a glitch," she said through a post on the LinkedIn application on Wednesday.

Following that, she said, the banking institution blocked her account without giving any notification via text or phone call.

Hafidzah added she had to go to the nearest Maybank branch to unblock the account which was not caused by her mistake.

"People say money can't buy happiness, but Maybank knows how to 'buy disappointment'," she said.

In the meantime, the woman also shared the story that she had to deal with difficulties for three days due to the problem.

"Maybank's disruption during the salary payment period is likened to a comedy of errors that is not even funny.

"My personal account is blocked, the company account cannot be used and visiting Maybank has become part of my daily exercise routine," she said.

Through the post, Maybank Executive vice-president Shaikh Munir Ahmad left a comment asking Hafidzah to provide a phone number for further action.

He said that his team would help Hafidzah to check and solve the problem.

Most recently, Maybank said that the problem had been successfully resolved on Friday.
